DOT hosts public information open houses
  • The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will hold a public information open house on Revive 285-Top End, Tuesday, Dec. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Cobb Galleria Centre, Two Galleria Pkwy, Atlanta. The open house will provide information on the project and allow you to ask questions, express your input on issues concerning the corridor and interact with project team members.
  • GDOT is hosting a public information open house, Thursday, Dec. 14, about proposed improvements to state route 360/Macland Road, from state route 120 in Paulding County to state route 176/New Macland Road in Cobb County. The meeting will be at Trinity Chapel Church, 4665 Macland Rd., Powder Springs, from 5 to 8 p.m. You will be able to view the project corridor and possible improvements, ask questions and make suggestions.     Hogsed elected president of GAAO

    Cobb County Tax Assessors' Office Director/Chief Appraiser, Phil Hogsed, has been elected 2007 president of the Georgia Association of Assessing Officials (GAAO), a professional organization dedicated to promoting the highest standards for technical accuracy, uniformity and professional development in property tax administration. Hogsed is certified as an Appraiser IV by the Georgia Department of Revenue and has worked with Cobb County Board of Tax Assessors since 1987. He has been the director/chief appraiser since 1994 and is responsible for certifying annual tax digest and annual rollback rates to the Board of Tax Assessors and taxing authorities, as well as overseeing the department's daily operations, including appraisals of residential, commercial and personal property. Hogsed has previously served GAAO as president-elect, vice president and on the executive board representing the Metro District.

    Cobb County DOT hosts public meetings

  • Cobb County Department of Transportation (DOT) will hold a public information open house on roadway safety and operational improvements on Post Oak Tritt Road from Murdock Road to the Fulton County line. The open house will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Tritt Elementary School, 4435 Post Oak Tritt Rd., Marietta. There will be no formal presentation.

  • Cobb County DOT will hold a public meeting on the Austell Road Livable Centers Initiative Study on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at South Cobb County Government Service Center, 4700 Austell Rd., Austell. The public will receive information about the study, including maps, graphs and timelines, and will be invited to ask questions. Cobb County will seek input on how residents, businesses and community organizations would like to see the area developed.     Cobb County Board of Commissioners and Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services will host a dedication and open house ceremony for Fire Station #14, Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Fire Station #14, 2905 Library Lane, Marietta. The dedication ceremony begins at 11 a.m. This event is open to the public and includes food, demonstrations and displays, a puppet show and the fire safety house.     Senior Santa deadline extended
    Due to the overwhelmingly positive response, Cobb Senior Services is extending the deadline for donations and "adoptions" for the first Senior Santa Christmas Party. The new deadline is Tuesday, Dec. 5. This is a chance to "adopt" a senior who may otherwise spend the holidays alone. Your $25 donation provides your "adopted" senior door-to-door transportation to the party, featuring dinner, songs, games, a visit from Santa Claus and much more. Seniors will also receive a gift bag filled with a holiday card, food, personal items and a special present.
