Creekside at Vinings and Villas at Creekside

Come get to know your neighbors in a relaxed, fun atmosphere!! Hope to see you there!!

Saturday, June 3rd : Break out your swimsuits and sun block!!! It's summertime - POOL PARTY time! The party starts at 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Pizza and soft drinks provided at the Creekside at Vinings pool.

Saturday, June 10th : Pool party rain date.

Wednesday, June 7th : Come show off your knowledge of sports, entertainment, history and more at Johnny's NY Style Pizza Trivia Night!!! Enjoy great food at even better prices. Trivia starts at 7:00. Prizes include Johnny's gift certificates!

Tuesday, June 13th : Can't make it to Johnny's Trivia? Try Vinings Grill Free Trivia at 8:00 pm. Great food and drinks can be purchased!!

Saturday, June 17 th : Love Wine? Come to the wine tasting event with your neighbors at Vermont Mustard Company courtesy of Colors of Wine. Wine tasting is from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm but come in early to enjoy some of Vermont Mustard's fantastic food specials available for purchase off the menu. Check them out at http://www.vermontmustardcompany.com/. Vermont Mustard is located at 2355 Cumberland Parkway, Suite 110 (in the same plaza as Marlow's Tavern).

Saturday, June 24th : Happy Hour at Marlow's (7:00pm)! Come relax on the patio and enjoy some live music!!

Premier Edition of Our Newsletter

The Social Committee has been working together on this Premier Edition of our Newsletter, from which advertisement revenue will pay for the newsletter and contribute to our future Web site and be added to the Social Committee budget for other community social activities.  We're very excited about our upcoming Pool Party and hope to see many of our neighbors in attendance.

 

Smyrna Community Center

Have you heard about the Smyrna Community Center?

Smyrna's Community Center, located at 200 Village Green (770) 431-2842, just 3 miles northwest on Atlanta Road, caters to people who have active lifestyles and offers a full and comprehensive recreational facility for Smyrna residents. The small gym offers an indoor walking track, weight equipment, and other stationary exercise equipment on the upper level, free to Smyrna residents. Just bring your photo ID and utility bill to the information desk to find out how to use these services. Space is available for rental to host meetings, receptions, celebrations and theater events. Situated on beautifully landscaped property, the Community Center has two regulation gyms, three racquetball courts, arts and crafts rooms, a game room with ping pong and pool tables, a sensory garden, and a dance-aerobics studio. There is a performing arts stage in the large gym, which is the site of various festivals, trade shows, and speaking engagements. Also, various classes are offered through the year. And while you're there, stop into the Public Library next door or City Hall on your way over to the Village Green shops and restaurants.

Venue: Piedmont Park. Cost: Unspecified Information, call 404-885-4646. Spend an evening with friends or family picnicking in the park and watching classic movies on a 45 x 24 ft. screen. June 1: A Hard Day's Night, June 8: The Wiz, June 15: Ferris Bueller's Day Off, June 22: Breakfast at Tiffany's, June 29: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. No pets, no umbrellas, no high-backed chairs, no grills. At the meadow.

Venue: Cook's Warehouse-Midtown. Cost: $65. Information: 404-892-3333 ext# 1444. Chef Richard Blais of One Midtown Kitchen provides modern healthy cooking hints. He prepares grilled shrimp with watermelon, avocado and horseradish; V-8 gazpacho with instant sorbet; lamb T-bone steak with chickpea French fries and citrus ketchup; and strawberry "crepes" with buttermilk pudding and pistachio. Benefits the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

June 18 at 7:00 pm: Gala Opera Dinner (http://www.citygrillatlanta.com/)

Venue: City Grill. Cost: $85, $100 dinner and both Opera Scenes Performances on June 23 and 25. Information: 404-651-1326. A gourmet, three-course dinner accompanied by arias performed by singers from the 2006 Harrower Summer Opera Workshop. A fund-raiser for the School of Music Opera Studies.

July 8 : Dance Night (free admission, table reservation is $20 for residents and $35 for non-residents). Downtown Smyrna is dancing to an uptown groove. Uptown Entertainment Band is back! July 15 : Family Night at the Park (free admission. Summer movies and summer fun under the stars! The summer outdoor movie series "Family Night at the Park" is kicking off at Chuck Camp Park. Load up your family and friends, grab a blanket or lawn chair and head out to the giant movie screen at Chuck Camp Park (behind Publix on South Cobb Drive and Benson Poole Road). Kids play area and concessions open at 7:00 p.m. and the movie begins at dark. All movies are full length feature films suitable for kids and grown-ups of all ages. July 28 at 11:00 am: Atlanta Braves Power Lunch (http://www.atlantabraves.com/)

Venue: ESPN Zone. Cost: $30 includes lunch and a gift pack; $270 table for 10. Information: 404-682-3776 ext# 226. Fans can have lunch and participate in a Q&A session with players and members of the Braves organization. Benefits the Atlanta Braves Foundation.

August 5 : City of Smyrna Birthday Celebration (free admission, table reservation is $25 for residents and $40 for non-residents). Fireworks and the works! Every year this big deal gets better and better and the cake just gets bigger! Bring the entire family and celebrate the birth of our city from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm.

Sample specialties from chefs like Sheri Davis of Dish, Michael Tuohy of Woodfire Grill and Karen Hilliard of Georgia Grill. Between chefs, enjoy the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival. Benefits the Grant Park Conservancy. In the picnic pavilions in the park.

August 28 : Fashion Cares Venue: Phipps Plaza. Ticket prices: general admission is $150. General info phone: 404-841-0215 and location phone: 404-228-1950. The man who created the prototype in Atlanta for New York's hottest fashion store is bringing the New York fashion show sensibility home. Jeffrey Kalinskys' Fashion Cares will take place Under the Tents at Phipps Plaza. The premier fashion event, Monday, August 28, kicks off the fall social season and chairs Carey Carter and Lila Hertz are confident that it will be more fabulous than ever. This year's event marks a major renovation of the fashion retailer, since Kalinsky sold to Nordstrom. Once encompassing all three names: Jeffrey, Jil Sander and Bob Ellis, the new 11,000 square-foot store will be just Jeffrey. The reception starts at 7:30 p.m. and the live auction and fashion show commence at 9:00 p.m.
