Cobb County launches Austell Road Livable Center Initiative Study:

Cobb County launches Austell Road Livable Center Initiative Study:
First public meeting set for Nov. 16

(Marietta, Ga. - Nov. 9, 2006) The Austell Road Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) Study will be launched with a public kick-off meeting on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the South Cobb County Government Service Center, 4700 Austell Rd., Austell.

Cobb County is conducting the Austell Road LCI Study to produce a redevelopment plan that balances transportation and land use improvements in order to build a more attractive, livable and sustainable community. The study focuses on the 3.7 mile segment of Austell Road from Clay Road to Miliford Church Road.

The county is seeking input on how residents, businesses and community organizations would like to see the area developed. At the public kick-off meeting, both sides will be able to gather facts and ask questions.

The public will receive information about the study, including maps, graphs and timelines for improvement and development goals. People are invited to ask questions about how the Austell Road LCI relates to the future plans and goals for Cobb County and the Atlanta metro area.

Cobb County, along with its engineering and planning consultant, Jordan, Jones & Goulding, Inc., and other members of the Core Team, will begin researching views of citizens affected by the Austell Road corridor. Meeting attendees will be asked to participate in break-out sessions and respond to various informative questions.

The website, http://rd.bcentral.com/?ID=4655660&s=105628743, will be updated continually as the Austell Road LCI Study develops. Additional public meetings will be held during key points in the study and hands-on public workshops will take place in January 2007. Final study results will be presented to the Cobb County Commission in spring 2007.

Thank you friends and neighbors of Creekside at Vinings and Villas at Creekside for your support in the election of our very first Board of Directors. The first step in successfully transitioning our community is complete. Our growth and success is spurring us toward change.

The Board of Directors and many community members have established standing committees to address your specific issues and concerns. Please consider contributing your knowledge and expertise through a standing or ad hoc committee. To date, the Board of Directors and our committees have been extremely active and will continue to work tirelessly for each of you representing your voice, focusing on quality of life activities and maintaining a strong property value. Committees that you may select from include Architectural Review, Finance & Budget, Landscape, Neighborhood Watch, Pool, Social & Newsletter, Risk Management & Insurance, and Rules & Regulations.

I am reminded of a quote by Alice F. Sturgis, Learning Parliamentary Procedure, "At meetings of clubs, by an effort of will, I always contrive to keep perfectly still, For it takes but a word of annoyance or pity and WHAM! there I am on another committee."

Creekside at Vinings and Villas at Creekside Community Members are witnessing the inaugural newsletter edition. In addition to keeping you abreast of the latest news around the community, we will take advantage of the additional space for in-depth, feature-style stories and advertisements. For those wishing to share the spirit of Creekside with friends and family, I encourage you to volunteer a moment of your time with the Social Committee and to pass along our newsletter.

Our Pool Club has officially opened effective April 29, 2006. The Homeowners Association will mark this occasion with a Pool Party on Saturday, June 03, 2006. Please place on your calendars this date for a day of Fun, Food, Splash and Excitement. The Social and Pool Committees have been instrumental in creating a memorable day for you and your family. Our pool bathrooms and showers have been repaired and re-conditioned including the installation of a new entry gate.

As a reminder, GLASS is prohibited in the pool area by the Cobb County Board of Health. Our pool is an amenity that we can ill afford to lose through the multiple spot inspections of the Cobb County Board of Health. The Board of Directors, Committees and Community Members appreciate your cooperation.

Landscaping has been a major concern for this community and is in the remedy process through the Landscape Committee and Board of Directors. The Board of Directors will insure a thorough inspection is completed of our site through a reserve study and a complete review of our transitional budget.
